Terms of Use
These terms cover this tool only. They sit alongside the Smart Spaces Terms of Use, which govern our main website and services. Where the two differ about this assessment, this page applies.
1. Accepting these terms
This tool is operated by Smart Spaces Global Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 07116878, VAT number 984-4271-88, at Ground Floor, Portsoken House, 155–157 Minories, London, EC3N 1LJ.
By using the Building Readiness Scorecard or the Smart Building Configurator you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the tool. If you are using it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation.
2. The assessment is not a survey, audit or specification
This is an indicative self-assessment, not professional advice. Your score, your stage, your recommended modules and your implementation pathway are all generated from a short set of multiple-choice answers that you supply about your own building. Nobody from Smart Spaces has inspected your site, reviewed your systems, or verified anything you entered.
The output must not be relied on as a building survey, a security or access control audit, an energy assessment, a statement of regulatory compliance, or a technical specification to procure against. It is a starting point for a conversation. Before you commit money or make a change to a real building, get advice from a qualified professional who has actually looked at it.
3. AI-generated content
Parts of your report and blueprint — the rationale attached to each recommendation — are written by an AI language model from the answers you gave. AI-generated text can be plausible and wrong. We review the underlying recommendation logic, but we do not review each generated sentence before it reaches you, and we do not warrant that it is accurate, complete or suitable for your circumstances. Treat it as drafting, not as fact.
4. Your results link is shareable, not secret
We give you a unique link to your results so you can return to them and share them internally. That link is not guessable, but it is not password-protected either: anyone who has it can open it and see your name, company, job title and answers. Share it with the same care you would use for any internal document. See the Privacy Notice for the detail.
The link stops working when your submission is deleted, which happens automatically 24 months after you complete the assessment.
5. Information you give us
You agree that the information you enter is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you are entitled to provide it. Please do not enter anyone else's personal details, confidential information belonging to a third party, or anything about your building's security arrangements that you are not authorised to disclose.
6. The HID partnership
Smart Spaces is an official HID partner and this tool is co-branded accordingly. The tool is provided by Smart Spaces. HID is not a party to these terms, does not operate this tool, and does not receive what you enter here — see the Privacy Notice. Nothing here creates any obligation on HID or any right against HID.
7. Acceptable use
You may use this tool for your own legitimate business purposes. You must not:
- use it unlawfully, fraudulently, or for any harmful purpose
- submit false details or impersonate anyone else
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the tool, its servers, or any data that is not yours — including by guessing or enumerating results links
- scrape, harvest or systematically extract data or content from the tool
- introduce malware, or interfere with the tool's operation or availability
- reverse engineer, decompile or copy the assessment logic, question set, scoring model or module catalogue
- resell the tool or its output, or present it as your own work product
8. Intellectual property
All intellectual property rights in this tool — including the questions, the scoring model, the module catalogue, the visualisations, the text, the design and the software — belong to Smart Spaces Global Ltd or our licensors. The Smart Spaces name and logo are our trade marks; HID's name and logo are HID's. Nothing here transfers any of those rights to you.
You may use, copy and share your own results report internally within your organisation for your own business purposes. You may not publish it externally or use it commercially without our written permission.
9. Availability
We aim to keep the tool available, but we do not guarantee it. It may be unavailable for maintenance, or because of a fault, or because something outside our control has gone wrong. We may change, suspend or withdraw all or part of it at any time without notice.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The tool and everything it produces are provided "as is" and "as available", for general information purposes only. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations, express or implied, including any implied warranty of accuracy, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, loss of anticipated savings, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this tool or from any decision taken on the basis of its output.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
If you are using the tool as a consumer rather than for business purposes, you keep all the statutory rights available to you, and nothing here affects them.
12. Third-party links
Where we link to another website, including hidglobal.com, we do so for information. We do not control those sites, we do not endorse their content, and we are not responsible for them.
13. Privacy
How we handle your information is set out in the Privacy Notice, and how we use cookies is set out in the Cookie Notice. Both form part of your use of this tool.
14. Changes and termination
We may update these terms. The version and date at the top of this page tell you which version is current, and continuing to use the tool after a change means you accept the updated terms. We may also stop your access if you breach the acceptable use rules above.
15. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of this tool, are governed by English law. You and we agree that the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
